On May 7th2011, the North American Outlaw Kettlebell Club hosted their first meet. Held in Ann Arbor, MI at Hyperfit, this was a meet that nobody wanted to miss. What served as a “break” from traditional kettlebell meets, the lights, the music and the atmosphere in general was amazing. The 5 minute sets were quite a change too. A lot of talent was in the building that day including some of the best lifters in North America! And what an amazing turn out, with over 70 lifters competing.

Oakland County Kettlebell Club had 3 lifters competing at the meet.:

1st place 20kg Biathlon Masters

Mark Egnash – 48/83 Total =126

This was Marks debut in kettlebell  sport competition. With only 7 weeks to prepare, he made it look easy to stand on the platform for the whole 5 minutes on each event. We are all proud to have Mark as part of OCKC and cannot wait until his next competition.

2ndplace-24kg longcycle (75+ weight class)

Dina Ross – 35

This was Dina’s first time competing with the 24kg bell. After hitting rank 2 (IKFF) earlier this year, Dina determined that it was time to make the jump to the 24. There is a lot more to this story and if you ever get the chance, ASK. It is a truly inspiring story. Anyway, Dina lasted the 5 minutes and her last rep was just as strong as her first.

1st place- 28kg biathlon (95+kg weight class)

John Lesko – 54/104 =158

John had a phenomenal  performance with the 28kg bells. His first time competing with the 28kg bells, he was able to make it the whole 5 minutes of each set.
John also competed and placed 1stin the dominant male challenge which consisted of 2min of jerks, 2min of longcycle and 1min of double snatches all performed with the 24kg bells.

 1st Place: John Lesko – 35J + 18LC + 16DS = 103 points
